Why does The Nightmare Before Christmas have such a large societal “cult” following? (Answered w/ 3 points)

Today I’ll be answering why does The Nightmare Before Christmas have such a large societal “cult” following?

As we should know, this movie has a large amount of fans that absolutely love the story.

With a big fan base, you have people that’ll want to do any and everything they can to show their loyalty.

Why does The Nightmare Before Christmas have such a large societal “cult” following?

To understand, you first have to know what a cult is first. And a cult is a group of loyal fans in simple terms. This movie tells a story that’s relatable, at least in the beginning, but has a “twist” of an ending. It has a dark background with the characters being Halloween based, but has a Hollywood ending.

Prove your loyalty

As I said earlier, a big part of having a cult following is to prove your loyalty.

And one of the ways we fans do that is by doing tributes that remind you of the name.

Cosplays are very popular ways that people across the world show it.

If you look around, you’ll find tons of these types of videos that show you how to look just like the characters you’ve grown to love.

“It gets me”

One thing that also makes the following of The Nightmare Before Christmas so big is it’s sneaky level of relatability.

It represents a dark group of people that actually has a soft spot for love and passion.

That’s where the twist happens!

Most dark characters in these type of stories usually end their story on a bad note, but this one’s different.

“Under the rug” to Hollywood

It’s a blessing for the gothic type of person that wants to be represented in a brighter light.

Disney and Tim Burton saved the day with allowing this story to be made “Hollywood.”

They gave it the ending that it deserved by letting a boogeyman have a win by the end of the story on a big note.

What a win for a big “minority.”
