Why were Magic Cards changed to Spell Cards? (Explained)

Today I’ll be explaining why were Magic Cards changed to Spell Cards.

Why were Magic Cards changed to Spell Cards?

This was to avoid a lawsuit.

The Wizards of The Coast case

Wizards of The Coast is a company.

A company that owns the game Magic The Gathering.

And what they did was put Konami in a lawsuit back in 2003 over the name of their cards.

Wizards of The Coast owned the name Magic Cards first and had better lawyers than their TCG counterpart.

As a form of settlement, Konami simply changed the name of their green cards to Spell Cards instead.
